It was created by a small group of residents who want to live here, independently, as long as it’s feasible. We needed alternatives for situations that can trigger departures to be near children or to take residence in a commercial care facility:

1. How will I care for an ailing companion or for myself if living alone and I get sick?

We have immediate connections with a wide range of home care services depending on need and ability to pay.

2. When I loose my driver’s license, how will I keep my independence getting around town to appointments, to the grocery store?

We have arranged connections to a variety of ride sources whether for medical appointments, shopping, or recreation – in Florence or the region.

3. How will I keep the house in repair and the landscape trimmed when I can’t use a ladder or handle the necessary tools?

We have an immediate connection to a general contractor who, with his subcontractors, specializes in home maintenance, home watch, and housework services.

4. What can I do to help stretch my income to last as long as I do?

Once a week we submit our member’s orders to Costco Wholesale in Eugene which are delivered to our office the next day, saving a day and the cost of the round trip to Eugene.

5. How can I avoid scams and identity theft?

We arrange periodic briefings by the Florence Chief of Police

6. How can I keep life interesting and enjoyable as long as I’m here?

-Through our website and NewsCard we keep members informed of cultural, educational, and entertainment events in the Florence area.

-Members are encouraged to initiate activities.

-Front Desk keeps in touch with its clients either through calls in, deliveries or a fortnightly phone call from the Desk.

After getting well along on this tack, the Founders realized that our service could be useful to busy adults whose careers make it difficult to find the time for everything.

So we give them time by running errands, arranging car maintenance, grocery shopping, pet care, child care… anything they need.

It is not limited to adults 50 years old and over.

It is a professional service offering its clients, with ONE CALL, information and connections to services that support living well, independently, at home, in Florence.

Who pays for services?

Members pay for the services they request.

The annual fee supports a Front Desk in maintaining and operating the One Call service.
